My friend came over to my house last night to watch the Nanny Diaries. We were going to see it in the theaters, but after I read all the bad reviews I told her that it would likely be out on dvd very shortly. I was right.

The movie was ok. They changed a lot from the book and large parts didn’t make any sense.  For example, who wears a sequined fur trimmed jacket to a Fourth of July party?  HH was pretty cute – sort of a cross between Michael Vartan and Noah Wylie.  Then disaster struck..right at a climatic part the dvd froze. We tried getting past that part but it just wasn’t working. Thankfully it played on my computer so we got to see the last 10 minutes.

Then as my friend is getting to ready to leave, she sticks her foot in her shoe and the power goes out. Now I initially though she had kicked a plug, even though had I thought more I would have realized there were no plugs near her. But looked out the window and saw the entire neighborhood was dark. Yay. I had lit a candle in the bathroom so I went and grabbed that so she could find all of her stuff and head home.

At least we got the movie in before the power went out. I think it was out for about 30 minutes. No idea why though and earlier in the day the power had gone off for less than a minute.
