Adventures in Online Shoe Shopping

I *heart* shoes. So a few years ago when zappos.com came on the scene I was in love. I could order shoes and they’d be there the next day! No more finding the perfect shoe but them not having your size.

I think the romance is over.

The thing with zappos is that they charge slightly over retail for their shoes and they don’t ever have really good sales or coupons. Enter Endless.com and Piperlime, these new shoe sites are the progeny of amazon and gap, respectively. They have tons of shoes, free shipping, coupons and most importantly GREAT SALES! More than once I’ve almost purchased something on zappos to find the same shoes on piperlime or endless for significantly less. It’s not uncommon to find clearance shoes marked less than 50% off the original price.

An example, I just ordered a pair of brown platform Franco Sarto sandals for Piperlime. The original price $90 – I paid $18. And it’s still summer so I can wear them! I’ve found great deals on Endless and their filtering options are great. It’s easy to find a very specific style and color, which isn’t always so easy on zappos.

So now I’m involved in a shoe buying menage a trois and loving it.

I feel you on the Zappos thing although I order from them a few days ago. Those other two sites show promise but their selections on the men’s side are very lacking. Maybe with time they will expand their offerings. THanks for the heads up!
